From her home studio in Gray, Debbie, the founder of Pick ME, begins this non-traditional craft with a theme. Inspiration comes from life’s simple pleasures—like a warm bubble bath, an engrossing book, or glittering snow. She then curates a selection of quality beads and tiny treasures, aiming to both fit the theme and provide a variety of satisfying textures. They are more than just layers of silicone. Pick ME puts a creative, sculptural twist on pick pads, making art you can take apart.

I've been crafting my entire life - sewing, macrame, knitting, cross stitch, quilling...anything to have fun and relax. I never expected to turn any hobby into a business, but here we are.

A few years ago, we lost one of our sons to anxiety and depression. As you can imagine, this has had a profound effect on our family. On the more difficult days, I turned to self-care tactics like chocolate, cross stitch, and, yes, fidgets toys called pick pads.

Pick pads became my therapy, distracting me from grief and the 'what ifs'. It's just a small thing that allows me to focus and get out of my head. Mental health is such a huge problem, and I felt if I found something that helps me, why not pass it on to other people who might need a break. It's not medicinal, it's not magic. It's simply a distraction that we all need from time to time. This is how Pick ME came to be. Out of tragedy has come something positive: sharing a fun and unique way to put problems on hold for a short time.
